Following on from Goldfinger,
Thunderball was bigger in every respect.
Shot mainly in the Bahamas, the underwater sequences are
pure James Bond, although the gadgets start to take over
from Sean Connery as the star of the film.
The Aston Martin DB5 makes a welcome reappearance, albeit
a short one, and 007 gets to use the jetpack.
One of the biggest gadgets belonged to the villain, Emilio
Largo - it is his boat, the Disco Volante, which
splits in two at the end of the film allowing a fast getaway
by hydrofoil, protected by an armoured gun platform.
The hydrofoil was bought in Puerto
Rico and sailed to Miami where it was rebuilt for
the film - the hull was modified to hide the addition of
the jettisoned section of boat.
