After its release in the USA last week, Casino Royale is released in the UK on DVD, Blu-Ray and UMD. The 2-disk set, billed as a Collector’s Edition, includes a number of documentaries, although many fans have expressed disappointment at the extras, most specifically deleted scenes and audio commentaries.

Earlier this month MI6 reported that Roger Michell had spoken a little more about his reason for not pursuing Bond 22.
“We couldn’t find a way of making us all happy with the script. It’s been through various drafts, but I just decided to say no before I got too far into it”, he reportedly said.

Details are available from the British Board of Film Censors website about the rating for Casino Royale. The film has been passed uncut for DVD release and will be rated 12 (the cinema release was 12A).

According to MI6 and other 007 news sites Giancarlo Giannini has confirmed to Italy’s Il Giornale that he is signed to return as Rene Mathis in Bond 22. The news lends more weight to the strong indications circulating since the London premier of Casino Royale that the new film will continue Casino Royale’s storyline directly.

Following our news roundup of Bond 22 yesterday, MI6 is reporting today that Roger Michell recently spoke to Metro about his reasons for walking away from the next Bond film.

With Bond 22 still overshadowed by Casino Royale’s recent worldwide success and while we are waiting for its DVD release in March there is little information being released on the next film, currently known simply as James Bond 22, and what is being printed tends to be the same regurgitated nonsense.
