In Dr No – both the novel and the film – James Bond is met with orders from the armourer to hand over his Beretta .25 semi-automatic. In its place he recommends switching to the Walther PPK, a 7.65 mm semi-automatic pistol “with a delivery like a brick through a plate glass window.”

A while ago I saw on the Absolutely James Bond forum a project by Corvus Watches to produce a watch strap like the one worn by Sean Connery in Goldfinger.
What is interesting about the strap is that it was previously believed to be black and grey; however, when the Blu-Ray version was released it became clear that the straps in fact had three colours; dark blue, green and red. Anyway, I signed up to the mailing list to be kept informed of the project and once the order book opened up I bought two straps.

The Aston Martin V8 Volante from The Living Daylights was one of the big draws to the Barcelona Classic Car Show last weekend. Surprisingly, the car has a Barcelona registration plate, but it is the same car I’ve seen before, with modifications to take the Q supplied outriders welded underneath.

Following the poor reception of The Spy Who Loved Me, Fleming decided to visit Jamaica in July 1962, where he worked on the short story Octopussy. The story is set in Kitzbuhel and Jamaica, two places close to Fleming’s heart, and centres around a figure suffering the ill effects of a lifetime of smoking and drinking heavily who seems distinctly autobiographical.

Math and odds are important parts of Texas Hold’em poker. James Bond knows this (of course). In the final hand of Casino Royale, four players move all-in on the river and Bond scoops the $115 million pot, thanks to smart play.
These were the cards on the board:
Ah-8s-6s-4s-As
And these were the players’ hands:
Player 1: Ks-Qs
Player 2: [...]

The Man With The Golden Gun sees James Bond follow Mary Goodnight to an island in Chinese waters, landing his seaplane and mooring it on the beach. There he is shown a high-tech solar power plant, at the heart of which is the Solex Agitator.
