Skyfall will premiere in London on 26th October 2012.

Sam Mendes confirmed at the press conference on November 3rd 2011 that shooting would take place in London’s Whitehall, as well as China, Istanbul and Scotland. He also believes that the “excellent” script includes plenty of classic Bond elements and, despite rumours to the contrary, plenty of action. He also confirmed that Skyfall would not be a direct continuation of Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace.

Despite being unable to attend the press conference Ben Whishaw, Albert Finney and Ralph Fiennes were all confirmed for Skyfall, although Mendes refused to elaborate on their roles.

However, Bernice Marlohe, Naomie Harris, Dame Judi Dench and Javier Bardem were all present, as was James Bond himself, Daniel Craig. Bernice Marlohe said she played a character named Severine, while Naomie Harris, contrary to rumour, is a field agent called Eve; unless she turns out to be Eve Moneypenny. Harris said she’d been training for the role by doing yoga, driving and training with machine guns; Bernice Marlohe also been practising with firearms.

According to the press release to coincide with today’s event:

In SKYFALL, Bond’s loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.

When Barbara Broccoli was asked what Skyfall means she replied that it has “some emotional context”.
